Improv Team Q&A: Pranav Nalam

1. What bug are you? 

“I’d probably be sow bug or a pill bug.”

2. What is your favorite improv game? 

“4-square.”

3. Tell me a story… 

“At one of the practices over the summer, I played a game of forward and reverse that also involved Megan Raisch and Gavin O’Meara. The suggestion that was asked was an ‘uncomfortable relation,’ and Aaron answers, ‘Husband and ex-wife.’ I would have simply done a scene with Megan as her ex-husband, but the scene also involved Gavin. So, I immediately put my arm around Gavin, and in a very hippie voice said to Megan, ‘Hey wifey!’ It was just hilarious, and the whole scene was amazing. So, we decided that every August 16th, Megan and I will celebrate our ‘divorceversary.'”

4. Why does the show start at 7:33? Why not 7:32? Or 7:34?

“I honestly don’t know. But, I wouldn’t want it to start at any other time now. I’ve already told so many people that the starting time is 7:33 that I would get mad if it changed.”

5. If you were a fast food chain, what would you be and why?

“If I were a fast food chain, I would probably [be] Buffalo Wild Wings—if it is even a fast food chain. At B-Dubs, you can get sweet, sour, sweet and sour, mild spicy, medium spicy, spicy, burn-my-tongue-spicy, I-am-going-to-pull-my-hair-out-spicy, and last but not least, blow-the-roof-off-spicy. I am a person of varying emotions, and the more time you spend with me, the farther you get into the spice spectrum.”

6. What is your favorite Minecraft block?

“I am one of those people who doesn’t play Minecraft. I know you’re probably judging me for that, but hey, that’s life.”

7. Why did you decide to join improv?

“It was a very last-minute decision. I was contemplating whether to go to auditions or not. And at the last minute, I decided to do it and see what happened. In fact, I did not tell my parents for about a week that I got into improv. For me, it was just something that I did not want to miss out on. And who wouldn’t want to spend time with that amazing team?”

8. Give us your best car salesmen pitch for improv.

“Okay. Here it goes. Hey. The improv show is this amazing culmination of games that are played by. . . AHHH! Who am I kidding? Look, if you want to laugh so much that your stomach will burst, then you should come to the improv show. If you don’t, then everything in your house will turn into popcorn. Just kidding, but come to the improv show, have fun, and enjoy the night with friends and family.”
