Former English Class: Lit of the Americas

1. How do you feel about being required to read books for school?

“I feel like it’s just a part of school, and you kind of have to deal with it whether you want to read them or not.” 

2. What book from Lit of the Americas taught you the most?

“We didn’t really read full books. It was a lot of small articles. We read one book; it’s called Like Water, for Chocolate. It was a pretty good book, I would say.” 

3. How do you feel about the amount of reading in Lit of the Americas?

“It wasn’t too bad. It was pretty average for your English class. I liked the class, so I was ok with it.”

4. What reading-related advice would you give to a student currently enrolled in Lit of the Americas?

“If you’re able to find it, find video recordings or the audiobook, and read it while someone else is reading it to you. It really helps you understand what’s going on, and that way you don’t have to think [or] work as hard.”

5. How did your experience in Lit of the Americas impact the class you chose to take this year?

“I really liked [class teacher Anthony] Sultini and the way he teaches his classes, so, last year, I signed up for his English class that he teaches for seniors.”
