Winterfest Court Q&As: Meribell Varghese

1. What was your reaction to getting nominated on court?

“It was very weird, especially because I got voted on with my best friend, Alex. So, I [thought that] there was no way we both got on at the same time. I was just sitting in the classroom, and all of a sudden, I was told to go to Manders’ room, and I was like, ‘There’s no way.’”

2. What does it mean to you to be nominated?

“Honestly, one of my first feelings was ‘Wow, did people actually think of me when looking through all the names of every single girl in the class?’ It’s just so nice knowing that people went through, saw my name, and clicked it. It makes me feel good about myself, like maybe I’m doing something right.”

3. Who’s someone that should’ve been nominated for court and wasn’t?

“A good girl could have been Kenzie Hushak because she was a section leader, and she’s a great person overall. For a boy, I think a good boy could have been Colton Jenkins because he’s a basketball player this season, and he’s a great person, a fun person, and an inclusive person overall.”

4. What is your favorite Winterfest tradition and why?

“My favorite Winterfest tradition is the lip syncs. I think they’re very fun; I think it’s a great way for everybody to relax at the end of Friday. Everybody’s dancing, and it’s so fun because it’s typically funny.”

5. What’s your favorite type of pasta and why?

“Alfredo or any type of pasta that’s cheese pasta is my favorite. It’s so cheesy, good, and gooey.”

6. Describe the weirdest dream you’ve ever had.

“I was boarding the school bus, but I was naked. I had no clothes on, I forgot to put them on, and the bus had already started moving.”

7. What’s one song you hope they’ll play at the dance?

“’She Knows’ by Ne-Yo; it’s a really good song.”
