FHC Inspires Q&As 2022: Hannah Levering

Name: Hannah Levering

Position: Speaker

TED Talk Title: Words and how they help your life

Why did you apply to be a speaker?

“I applied to be a speaker because I thought it would be a fun experience and to share my thoughts and ideas with a big crowd.”

How are you feeling about speaking at FHC Inspires?

“I am very honored, but I’m very nervous that it won’t be good enough and won’t change people’s lives.”

What was the process of picking the perfect TedTalk topic?

“When the deadline of having [a] topic rolled around, I was empty-handed and had no idea of what my topic would be. [It wasn’t] until I was sitting in math after my test [that I] finally figured out what my topic was.”

What does your message mean to you?

“My message is why having a word to live by is a good idea. What it means to me is that I have used my word to get me out of tough situations this past year. I hope that this Ted Talk helps people with their problems, as well.”

Who is your target audience?

“My target audience is anyone who is human because we all have our problems and we need something to help us through it.”

Did you ever see yourself speaking at FHC Inspires?

“At the beginning of the year, no, because I wasn’t a very strong public speaker. After doing small presentations in class and building up my confidence, my public speaking skills got better, and by the time the TED Talks came around,  I thought I would have a better chance.”

What are you doing to prepare for the big night?

“To prepare for the big night, I will be hanging out with all the people involved, eating food, and just being in the moment.”

How does your Google Slide presentation reflect your topic?

“My Google Slideshow has pictures that reflect my personal topic. Also, [there are] other pictures that have to do with my topic, based on the book I’m talking about.”

What’s a mobile game you’re currently hooked on?

“I cannot stop playing Homescapes. I’m almost on level 1000.”
