Improv Central 2022 Q&As: Sofia Hargis-Acevedo
Grade: 11
What excites you most about Improv Central?
“I am always so excited to go to practice for Improv every day. We always laugh with each other and tell the funniest jokes, and I am so incredibly excited to bring those laughs to the stage.”
Why should people watch Improv Central?
“It is the perfect time for people to relax and laugh at stupid jokes. Not only is it fun for us on stage, but since we have people in the audience call out suggestions and even help in some games, it is fun for them too.”
On a scale from 1-10 (10 being the extreme), how nervous are you for the show and why?
“I’m about a 5 on the scale. I mean, there are always some nerves right before going on stage for everything, but it gets a lot easier after the first few seconds when we’re really getting into it.”
What’s your favorite memory of being on the team?
“One time, [senior] Katelynn [Heilman] and I were playing a game where you had to go through the alphabet and start each line with the next letter. We are both not the best at remembering which letter comes next, so we were both struggling a lot. It was to the point where we were both laughing so hard we were crying.”
What is a song that reminds you of the Improv Team?
“‘I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)’ by The Proclaimers. I really don’t know why; I just get Improv vibes from it.”
If you could only live in one place for the rest of your life, where would it be?
“Probably Washington, specifically around Mt. Rainier. It is so gorgeous out there; I would just love to look at that view every day.”
What’s an improv game you enjoy?
“I really like Forward and Reverse, because it’s so funny to do the same action over and over again, also because I get super confused by it and it makes the game even funnier.”
