Improv Central 2022 Q&As: Katelynn Heilmann

Grade: 12

What excites you most about Improv Central?

“I think what excites me the most is that it’s a unique opportunity at our school because not a lot of other schools have Improv teams. It’s cool that we get to be a part of something bigger than ourselves and make people laugh, hopefully.”

Why should people watch Improv Central?

“I think it’s a cool experience, and [as] I said, it’s unique to our school. I think it’s a good way to support our school. I think you’ll know someone in the show, no matter if you’re close to them or not, so you can support someone you know.”

On a scale from 1-10 (10 being the extreme), how nervous are you for the show and why?

“Maybe a 6. I’m not super nervous, because I’m comfortable with the people that I’ll be on stage with, but I definitely want it to go well. I really hope people like it, so I’m a little nervous.”

What’s your favorite memory of being on the team?

“The Chicago trip was such a bonding experience, and we learned a lot about each other, improv, and ourselves, so I really enjoyed that.”

What is a song that reminds you of the Improv team?

“’Chicago’ by Trina Vega. The team went to Chicago, and that’s the only song I could sing the whole time.”

If you could only live in one place for the rest of your life, where would it be?

“Probably Europe, because it’s really beautiful there. I’ve never been there, but everything I’ve heard about it sounds amazing, so I’d probably want to live there for the rest of my life.”

What’s an improv game you enjoy

“There’s one called Symphony of Complaints, and we basically all get to complain about something [while] people conduct us to be louder or quieter. So, at some point, you just get to scream about something that’s bothering you, and that’s always fun.”
