What was your reaction when you found out you were on court?
I had already heard a lot of people saying, “Oh, Joaquin, I voted for you for court!” Henry McNamara even made me vote for myself. So I guess I wasn’t too surprised.
Why do you think you were nominated?
One of the reasons is that I make myself known. I used to give people candy all the time, so I think a lot of people just know who I am because of that.
What is your favorite part of Homecoming Week?
I think it’s pretty interesting to see everybody do the spirit days, and also all the assemblies like Powderpuff and tug-of-war are really fun.
Which is your favorite Spirit Day and why?
I like Monochrome Day. It’s easy for me. My style is already fairly monochrome, so it’s even easier for me.
Who do you think should be on court but isn’t?
Chloe Cox and Franklin Feng.
What song do you hope they play at the dance?
I haven’t actually gone to a single Homecoming, but I would like to hear “Until I Found You” by Stephen Sanchez.
How long would you survive in a zombie apocalypse?
If I can make it a week, I think that would be enough for someone to find me and bring me to a shelter. So I think once I make it to a week, I’d be good.
What was your reaction when you found out you were on court?
I was very surprised. I wasn’t expecting it. Not that I didn’t want to [be nominated], but out of all the people in the grade, I wasn’t expecting to be picked.
Why do you think you were nominated?
I feel like I try to talk to a lot of people. Student Council helps with that; I always try to include everyone I can. I’m pretty involved with the school, whether it’s through student council, [National Honor Society] NHS, or other clubs I’m a part of.
What is your favorite part of Homecoming Week?
I like the lip sync and Powderpuff.
Which is your favorite Spirit Day and why?
Probably Pajama Day because it’s the easiest and most comfortable.
Who do you think should be on court but isn’t?
Juliana Gole. She’s so friendly, I’ve never had a bad experience with her, and I feel like that goes for a lot of other people, too.
What song do you hope they play at the dance?
“Hotel Room Service” by Pitbull.
How long would you survive in a zombie apocalypse?
Two days.
What was your reaction when you found out you were on court?
Surprise. I was kind of excited but also overwhelmed because I know that you have to do some extra stuff throughout the week.
Why do you think you were nominated?
Honestly, I don’t know. I feel like I talk to a lot of people around the grade, and I know a wide variety of people, so more people would vote for me.
What is your favorite part of Homecoming Week?
Definitely doing the lip sync and watching tug-of-war.

Probably USA-out because you have the most creativity with it.

How long would you survive in a zombie apocalypse?
How long can you go without food, like, three weeks? Probably three weeks. Except I guess I would need water, so maybe actually like three days.

I feel like I had a bunch of emotions. Mainly surprise, but I’m super excited.
Why do you think you were nominated?
I have absolutely no idea.
What is your favorite part of Homecoming Week?
All of the traditions we do, especially for the Student Council, like the banner, the lip sync, the parade, and the dance itself. I think that everything is something to look forward to.

Pajama Day. I love being comfy, and it can also be super cute.
Who do you think should be on court but isn’t?
Juliana Gole. She’s super sweet, and she’s involved in a bunch of things. Hopefully, she’s on Winterfest Court.
What song do you hope they play at the dance?
“Dance the Night Away” by Dua Lipa.
How long would you survive in a zombie apocalypse?
I’ll say like a week and a half.
What was your reaction when you found out you were on court?
I was really surprised. I didn’t expect it at all, and I was at the end of the football field, so I was a little freaked out and had to run all the way across. Overall, though, I was excited.
Why do you think you were nominated?
I don’t really know, to be honest. I feel like there are just enough people that I have friendships with, and I’m pretty good at spreading myself out between activities and groups.
What is your favorite part of Homecoming Week?
When the Dance Team performs at the assembly on Friday.

I really like Monochrome. It’s easy to participate, but you can still make it cute.
Who do you think should be on court but isn’t?
Lilah Yoder. She’s so sweet, and I feel like everyone knows her and is friends with her.

I’m not sure.
How long would you survive in a zombie apocalypse?
Five minutes at the most.
What was your reaction when you found out you were on court?
I was kind of surprised. There are only five guys out of the whole grade that get it. It was a good accomplishment, but overall, I was more surprised than anything.
Why do you think you were nominated?
I think my involvement in different activities helped [me get nominated]. I find that FX, being in two sports, has helped me get to know our student body, which is one of the reasons I was nominated.
What is your favorite part of Homecoming Week?
The traditions of the week. Powderpuff, tug-of-war, the bonfire we used to have, and finally the game on Friday. I just think the standard we have for Homecoming at FHC is greater than a lot of other schools, and I love that part of the week.
Which is your favorite Spirit Day and why?
I like Country vs. Country Club [day]. I like seeing the differences between outfits.
Who do you think should be on court but isn’t?
Micah Scholtens.
What song do you hope they play at the dance?
I’m not a big music guy, but probably “Mo Bomba” by Sheck Wes or “Unwritten” [by Natasha Bedingfield].
How long would you survive in a zombie apocalypse?
I feel like I could last pretty long. Just trust no one, find a food supply, and find weapons. I could last a couple of months.

I was very surprised and grateful that our grade views me as someone who deserves to be on court.

I’m not just friends with one group of people. I try to branch out into different groups. I also play three sports, so it’s easy to get to know people more.

My favorite part is Powderpuff or the day of the parade and the game.

Pajama Day because it’s comfy, or Monochrome because I have a lot of the same color clothes.

Literally five seconds. I would die right away.
