Class of 2016

President, Tim Spurlin

What are you excited for?

Literally everything. I am so pumped for all the events and special privileges that seniors get and having the opportunity to plan and participate. It’s going to be such a great year.

What changes do you want to make to the upcoming year?

I mainly want to increase class participation. In years past our numbers have been low, but I hope and plan on many more students participating in the fun.

What is going to be your most difficult challenge?

Winning homecoming. I think it’s possible to get first across the board, but it will take some focus and work.

What are you expecting to accomplish next year?

I expect a great year, as I’ve said before, due to a great council and class participation. And I also expect a ton of fun.

Why did you decide to run for student council?

I wanted to be president for over a year, running for VP this past year in order to be eligible for President this year. I wanted to bring our class to a level we haven’t seen before, and I knew that our class wanted that too. I am also extremely stoked for Graduation; I have already begun my speech and am very excited to speak. Those are the major reasons I decided to run.

Class of 2017

President, Bennett Hendricks

What are you excited for?

I’m looking forward to meeting all of the incoming freshmen, and also to becoming an upperclassman.

What changes do you want to make to the upcoming year?

I think it would be really cool if we could show the homecoming floats during halftime at the homecoming football game. Also if people are interested, we could bring back the tradition of having dances in the gym after football games.

What is going to be your most difficult challenge?

Our biggest challenge is going to be orchestrating homecoming, winterfest, and prom with only 5 people on council, although I’m confident in our class’s ability to overcome this setback.

What are your expecting to accomplish next year?

I’m expecting the junior class to come out strong and win homecoming.

Why did you decide to run for student council?

I was happy to be given the opportunity to assist my class in any way I could.

Class of 2018

President, Ellie Metalic

What are you excited for?

I am really excited to see how many more people participate in all of the school events. With our success this past year, I think that we should have a lot more people excited and ready to participate.

What changes do you want to make to the upcoming year?

As for the class of 2018, I would like to work on unity within our class. It is very important to know your class and feel comfortable around one another. If we could expand all of our “social circles” this next year and have more people get involved, that would be great. As for the whole school, we can really work on getting everyone pumped and excited for certain events. If just a few of us are super psyched for something, other people could catch the vibe and participate too.

What is going to be your most difficult challenge?

Last year, we really worked hard on all of the homecoming and winterfest events. Our biggest challenge last year was the snow sculpture. We really struggled with that event and I think that will be one of our hardest challenges this year as well. If we work on getting the word out more, I think that we could get more volunteers that are ready to participate. Hopefully next year we will actually know what our sculpture is when we are done.

What are your expecting to accomplish next year?

Next year, I hope that we can place high in our lip sync again. We really put a lot of work into it last year and if we get a good number of people and participants this coming year, we can make it even better. All of the events last year were a blast and if we can do as well as we have in the past it would be a great accomplishment.

Why did you decide to run for student council?

I decided to run for student council because I really enjoy being a part of things. As class president, I feel that I am able to help out with almost anything and help make a difference in my class. Our class has a bunch of super exciting and kind people and I am so glad to be a part of it.
