Fall is my favorite season. Not because it’s the season of my birthday or because of the bright scenery, but because of the weather and the outfits that come with it.
I have been looking forward to the outfits I can wear this season since summer when I began to see what trends the Fall 2023 runways were forecasting.
Red
While fall typically sees a showcase of muted earth tones and subtle oranges, reds, and browns to match the autumn leaves, this year takes a new bold direction. Red is undoubtedly the color of the season. Not deep, dark maroons or burnt oranges, but bright cherry tomato reds.
All red outfits were seen in the shows of brands like Hermès and Ferragamo. Though everyday life doesn’t pose for dressing head to toe in one color, a pop of red is perfect to channel this trend. Purses, shoes, and hair accessories are perfect for this. From Adidas to red ribbons tying back hair, red will be everywhere.
Bows
Another easy-to-incorporate runway trend is bows and ribbons. While these have been a hair accessory trend for the past few months, bows are being added to clothing. From acting as ties for collared tops to huge bows on waistlines, they are sure to be a trend for now. My favorite ways to incorporate this trend would be in my hair and also by using a ribbon as a belt with a bow in the front.
Metallic Shoes
Possibly a less styleable trend would be the metallic shoe trend. Designers like Vivienne Westwood, Diesel, and Gucci paired outfits with metallic gold or silver shoes. Silver was more popular than gold for most designers. These brands had pumps and heeled boots, but that isn’t to say those are the only metallic shoes in style. Adidas Sambas have been incredibly popular in the past few months and though there are no full metallic Sambas or lookalike-Adidas styles, Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66s are similar in style to Adidas and have silver and gold options.
Fruit
A trend carrying from summer to fall is fruit all over. Designer Jill Sander featured a cherry shirt, which seems to fit perfectly with fall’s cherry red theme. Abercrombie & Fitch is carrying cherry, strawberry, and lemon graphic tees to channel this trend. If looking for something that brings fruits to more outfits than those with graphic tees, Kate Spade Outlet has loads of watermelon bags on sale, while Coach Outlet has fruit jewelry on sale.
For those who don’t like buying new things every year based on trends, don’t worry. Sweaters are 100% still in style, and this year showed brands like Miu Miu and Gucci styling models in casual outfits, with jeans and leggings.
Though the overview of fall style this year is largely the same as seasons and years past, these new trends should not be overlooked, and will definitely be incorporated into my fall wardrobe.
