DECA students are selling Live Like Lucas candles at school
As of today, candles in memory of Lucas Van Sprange are being sold at school. Students have been buzzing with questions and want to know more about the candles. I sat down with FHC junior Irene Yi, who is behind the project and got all the information the student body needs to know.
Q: What is the purpose behind selling the Live Like Lucas candles?
A: “We [Rylee Hrnyak, Colleen Kramer, Jessica Henry, Maddie Paciorek and Ellie Matelic] are selling the candles for a DECA project. We have organized this so we would be donating through the Live Like Lucas foundation for pediatric cancer.”
Q: When will the candles be sold and where can they be bought?
A: “We sold them today during lunch and will be selling them tomorrow (02/09/2017) during lunch and then Friday (02/10/2017) at the Varsity Basketball game.”
Q: What is the cost for the candles?
A: “They were previously being sold for $20, but we are selling them for $10.”
The message behind Live Like Lucas is an important one, “Empowering youth to shower kindness.” The candles proceeds go to a great cause and the candle, illuminating a room or just displaying the beautiful bottle, is a wonderful reminder to show kindness to everyone and to spread and celebrate Lucas Van Sprange’s legacy.
Sophie is a Senior and is hyped to get this year started.
Outside of school, you can find her riding horses, acting on stage & screen, and playing...

Unfortunately, this project occurred last year and we are unsure if candles are still being produced. We recommend you contact one of the girls in the story and ask them.
