With summer fast approaching, I have started to curate a list of things I want to experience. It is my last summer before college to make a lot of memories with my high school friends. So here is my summer bucket list:
Make a visual bucket list
Kind of like a vision board, get pictures and ideas down on a poster board or create a Pinterest board. This is a good way to get all your goals for the summer down in one place where you have visually appealing access to it. Like a vision board, if it is put to paper or compiled in Pinterest the activities are more likely to be done and not forgotten about.
Paint swimsuit baskets
A new trend I have seen is getting wood boxes and painting them with fun designs to spice up your closet and get you more excited when changing into your swimwear. This is a super cute idea that you can do with friends or alone. You can reuse the box, too; if you decide to store your swimwear in a new way, you can store other things in the box or use the box as a gift bag.
Have a picnic on the beach
I always say I am going to drive to Grand Haven in the summer, and then only go maybe once. I want to go more and have a Pinterest-worthy picnic, especially. It is a fun way to spend time with friends; you can get cute pictures, and you can put on a swimsuit from your painted box and tan.
Go to a random concert
There are a few local concert venues that have random shows frequently throughout the summer, and they are not crazy expensive. You can go to Fredrick Meijer, The Intersection, 20 Monroe, and more. Concerts are a fun experience, even if you don’t know the musicians, and they can be a great way to listen to good music and make fun memories.
Pick Strawberries
I usually go once a summer to pick strawberries with my family. The farms are always super cute, and the strawberries are so delicious. You can use the berries to make jam, which tastes so good and is another fun activity. This is a super fun way to spend time with friends or family. I love this tradition my family has; we make a day of it. We go pick the strawberries or sometimes blueberries, then we go get ice cream, hang out, and then go home and make jam. There are also other farms like this; there is a lavender farm in Macosta County, about an hour north of Grand Rapids, where you can pick lavender and get lavender products such as honey and body scrub. It is all organic, smells amazing, and is a quick, cute activity.
Play a point game
A way to stretch out of your comfort zone and experience new things is to make a game out of it. Get some friends together and make a list of activities, such as a balloon fight or proposing to a stranger, and assign a number of points to them. This is a way to have fun with friends throughout the whole summer.
These are only a few ideas that can be added to a summer bucket list; social media, especially Pinterest, have a lot more, but I can not wait for summer to start so I can go out and experience it all.
