The first thing that I want you to know is that you deserve the entire world.
You deserve the leaves that fall in the fall and the ones that bloom again in the spring. You deserve the waves on all of the oceans and lakes that sparkle in the summer sun. You deserve every sunrise and every sunset that appears just a little bit differently every single day.
You deserve the whole world because of the person that you are. Last semester, when I barely knew you, and when we were all two separate hours, you invited me to sit in the hallway with you every day. You always made sure that I felt included. You deserve the whole world because of the moments I’m walking with you when you talk to almost anyone we pass. You’re not afraid of talking to them; you just love to talk to people. I can see that you long to know anyone and everyone that you meet. That’s why you deserve the whole world.
I’ll forever appreciate your love for everything around you. I’ll forever appreciate your love for Addie LaRue and your love for shows and movies. I’ll forever appreciate your love for the color red, which convinced me to start noticing it and loving it too. I’ll forever appreciate your love for summer and also your love for living in the moment.
Another thing that I’ll always appreciate is how much you care about what season people think that you are. Caring about little things like that shows me the kind of person that you are. I’m sorry I always say that you’re fall, but I am going to stand by that fact. I do know that you hate it. You want to be known as summer. As much as you do remind me of summer, you’ll always remind me of fall. I just want to explain to you why.
Fall is my favorite season; when it’s fall, I feel like nothing could go wrong. Fall is the time in my life when I feel the most peace and where I see the most beauty. Fall is when the leaves transform from plain green to vibrant shades of yellow, orange, purple, and red. For me, you’re that peace that I need in my life. You’re the one who creates a calming environment for me where I feel like nothing can go wrong. I hope that after reading this, you feel a little better about the fact that I think of you as fall, and I hope you understand why. It’s the love that you give and your calming environment that remind me of fall.
I hope you feel the love you give to others in return; you deserve it all. I hope that you see that everybody around you loves just being around you. I hope that you see the times when people greet you in the hallways and classes with a smile, and I hope you saw how my face lit up when I saw you walk in while I was working.
Sometimes when I’m in a bad mood, all I need is a conversation with you to help lift my mood. I’ll forever cherish our “quick” walks around the school during sixth hour. You always seem to be able to tell when I need them.
I’ll forever cherish every moment that I have with you for the next year. As upset as I am that we only have a little over a year left, thank you for always being there for me, and thank you for reminding me of fall.
