I love traveling, but the decision of where to travel is a convoluted one. Through many blissful and fun-filled spring break trips, I finally have found the best places to travel in April that are guaranteed to provide a trip that will not be forgotten any time soon. From sandy beaches in Mexico to destinations closer to home, these vacation spots will not disappoint.
Hawaii
Although perhaps a tad cliché, Hawaii will always be one of the best, undisputed destinations for a beachy vacation. With warm weather and gorgeous beaches, islands in Hawaii like Maui or the Big Island are some of the best spring break destinations. With typical beach activities like snorkeling, swimming, or boating, Hawaii provides a perfect relaxing experience in warm weather with a high UV level enabling desirable tans.
Lake Tahoe, California/Nevada
I’ll admit, my frequent and annual trips to my family’s cabin in Tahoe for as long as I can remember may have created a bias towards the California town. However, the beauty of Lake Tahoe year-round is undeniable, especially in the warmer months. With jet skiing, hikes, and unique local restaurants, Tahoe is the perfect place to relax surrounded by some of the clearest freshwater in the country and stunning mountains. Lake Tahoe will forever hold unforgettable memories and a special place in my heart. Everyone should have the pleasure of experiencing Tahoe in the summer or spring at least once.
Chicago, Illinois
Close to Michigan, and only a short flight or drive away, Chicago is the perfect place to shop and enjoy the thrill of a big city. With a multitude of stores, restaurants, and tourist attractions, Chicago is a diverse and interesting city that makes for a perfect spring break trip. Although the warmer weather that many desire in April may not be found in Illinois, a trip to Chicago will certainly be exciting and memorable.
Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
My favorite spring break trip I’ve ever attended was to Cabo San Lucas, and it was the best way to experience the more luxurious side of Mexico, with many Cabo resorts promoting access to the Pacific Ocean that many other Mexico cities and resorts cannot claim. With unsafe waters and dangerous beach fronts throughout much of Mexico, Cabo’s ocean access was a great way to appreciate the Pacific up close and from afar. With a range of activities and sightseeing adventures, Cabo San Lucas is the perfect beach getaway in the dreary spring months.
Saugatuck, Michigan
For those looking to stay in Michigan for the break, Saugatuck is the perfect town for a spring break trip. With direct access to Lake Michigan, as well as a quaint and busy downtown, Saugatuck is an ideal spot in Michigan for a vacation, or even some time away from home. Restaurants and delis like The Farmhouse Deli and Pantry provide delicious food and baked goods for any visitors to Saugatuck.
Spring break is approaching sooner than expected, and it can be hard to decide where to travel. Whether leaving the country or staying a little closer to home, any of these vacation spots would allow for an undisturbed and unforgettable 2025 spring break.
