Spring cleaning for most is just a quick house cleaning to start the incoming season with a “fresh start.” However, there is much more to spring cleaning than simply “cleaning.” Instead, it’s the start of a new version of yourself, the absolute best version of yourself.
The process of spring cleaning doesn’t only take cleaning, but it takes confidence in yourself. After the frigid winter season has ended, it is now time for you to take your potential to the highest level and bring out your confidence by expressing yourself in new ways.
For me, spring cleaning comes in three steps. I avoid hoarding tendencies by cleaning out items that I don’t need, changing up my appearance and stepping out of my comfort zone, and of course, cleaning the environment I spend most of my time in: the bedroom.
Closet Cleanout:
The spring and summer season is the season I tend to spend the most time online shopping for a new warmer-weather suited wardrobe. Whether it’s purchasing new clothes on sale or buying brand-new items, I struggle with saving my money. As a part of your spring cleaning, I recommend going through your closet and picking through your least favorite pieces of clothing. I often struggle with this, as convincing myself I will wear items that I have never worn is simple enough; however, ever since I started my Depop, it has been so much easier to sell clothes. For some extra clothing cash, Depop is a great option, as all it requires is a camera, shipping bags, and a local postal service. Also, donating clothes to thrift stores is a great way to refresh your closet, as you can trade them for brand-new pieces of clothing to spice up your taste this spring.
Appearance:
By appearance, I don’t simply mean to change your appearance for the judgment of others. Instead, appearance means a new start. Spring is the season of change, and for you, it should be a growing point from which you can start to express yourself in new ways. After all, it is a new season, and with the stress of everything changing, it can’t hurt to spice up your appearance in new ways. For starters, I always schedule a new hair appointment in spring, specifically in the middle of April. That way, the first moment I take a step outside the hair salon, I can say that the spring season has officially begun. As I am not a very adventurous person, this hair appointment is usually just for trimming and touch-up. However, cutting off the dead ends and styling a new haircut is one of the best and easiest ways to boost your confidence. Leaving the dead-ends in the past, forgetting every “dead” memory I once held from the past. Also, splurging some winter savings on new makeup products to spice up your makeup routine is a great way to start your spring season. Whether it’s switching from a much more natural look or a heavier-loaded makeup theme, changing up your usual makeup routine is a start to learning how to step out of your comfort zone without feeling ashamed. Appearance is important to your overall mood and confidence, therefore, it is prioritized to feel like the best version of yourself at all times to have the best spring season possible.
Bedroom:
As a teenage high school student, I spend the majority of my time in my bedroom. Whether I am reading a new book or studying for one of my classes, my bedroom is always the place to go. It is always much better to spend your time studying in a clean environment, where your mind feels the most appreciated and clear. Feeling productive in a space that you do not feel comfortable in is difficult, especially when it’s one of the spaces that you spend the most time in. However, cleaning up your bedroom doesn’t mean picking up old dirty clothes and folding up some messy blankets that were once thrown on the floor. Instead, try deep cleaning. YouTube is a great source to find many cleaning tutorials, as it can help provide different ways to clean and organize your life before the warm season approaches. I always make sure to add vacuuming into my cleaning routine, as it is difficult to wake up every morning while stepping onto a dirty floor. Wiping down once dirty surfaces and wiping away the leftover winter sicknesses with Clorox wipes doesn’t hurt either. It’s best to start the spring season productively and healthily.
Spring cleaning is not only useful to be the most productive version of yourself but also to clean out your mind to grow as a person as the warmer months approach.
