The Christmas season is approaching, whether you agree or not, which means baked goods and holiday menus. Kitchens all across the world are preparing for the baked goods to come. The Christmas season is so joyful already, and the sweets make it even better. I have grown up with Christmas movies and baked goods, and they always put me in the Christmas spirit.
Whether it’s sledding or snowboarding all day, I could always count on fresh-baked goods when I got home, so here are my five most favorite Christmas sweet treats.
Gingerbread
I think this food is decent as a cookie, but it is better as a gingerbread house. Gingerbread has a very particular taste that I am not the most fond of. Although it is not my favorite, it is a must-have on this list because the houses are so much fun to decorate and maybe even eat when you are done. My friends and I love to make gingerbread houses as a part of our Christmas fun; eating all of the candy and frosting with it is just a bonus.
Peppermint bark
Peppermint has such a “Christmas” flavor. Peppermint bark is also a must have for this list. It looks like Christmas in a treat, and it also has such a good taste. The mix of minty peppermint and rich chocolate brings a cool Christmas vibe. Although the flavors are complete opposites, they taste so delicious together.
Hot Chocolate
Although this is not a baked good, it is one of the best Christmas items, and it makes you feel so special while you drink it. It feels like you are sitting by a warm campfire watching a movie, covered in blankets, and wearing your most comfy clothes. There are so many different ways you can make hot chocolate, from adding a candy cane to smothering it with whipped cream. This is one of the most common Christmas items that you can have, especially after you just came inside from hanging out in the cold all day.
Chocolate covered pretzels
Some may say that these don’t count as a Christmas dessert, but I think the complete opposite. Anything can be a Christmas dessert if you want it to be. Chocolate-covered pretzels are the perfect mix of savory and sweet. Chocolate-covered pretzels are the best when topped with red and green sprinkles, as that just brings in that Christmas spirit.
Christmas sugar cookies
There are so many different kinds of sugar cookies, but I am talking about the ones smothered in frosting. As a kid, when my family and I would decorate Christmas sugar cookies, I made mine with the most frosting and sprinkles so I knew exactly which one was mine. These cookies bring back so many memories that I will never forget. They taste so good, and they are perfect for any Christmas occasion.
Sugar cookies have always been my personal favorite dessert, and they can be decorated however you want. Whether you tried to make it look good or made it your absolute worst, it will never fail to be the best cookie on the market. My favorite part of these cookies as a kid was the shapes you could make with them, from an angel to a snowman.
Christmas has been, and will forever be, my favorite holiday. It makes me so glad to see past all of the presents and look at all of the fun memories that Christmas brings, and the sweets always taste a little bit sweeter when Christmas is near.
