I have had my skirt from Garage for around two years now, and it is my favorite jean skirt I have tried. I have worn it basically all through my freshman and sophomore years during volleyball season when we had to dress up, and it has never let me down. I am a huge fan of jean skirts, so I have tried many before, but Garage seems to be the best of them all. I love how the material is stretchy and comfortable to wear, which is hard to find in most jean skirts. My favorite part about it is the length—not too short, but not too long—I have been on the hunt for the perfect length since I can never find one that is not too long. I love the built-in shorts underneath, since they are helpful and convenient. Having a short torso and being short in general makes it especially hard to find good jean skirts and shorts, since they are always at an awkward length, but Garage was the first one I found that fits just right.
Aeropostale
When I went into Aeropostale for the first time, right before spring break, I was not expecting much. I went in looking for jean shorts for my trip, and I ended up finding the perfect pair. On spring break, I wore them constantly—they are a perfect length and very comfortable. I love how the material makes it feel like I could wear them anytime and paired with almost anything. Having enjoyed pairs before from Urban Outfitters—a pair of shorts that only lasted me a year—the Aeropostale shorts are much more dependable. From not having been in Aeropostale before to finding my favorite pair of jean shorts, I would absolutely recommend buying Aeropostale’s low-rise jean shorts.
Hollister
The Hollister jean skirt is popular for a reason; it is one of the best jean skirts I have tried. Although I don’t currently have it in my closet, I have worn it multiple times and loved it. The fit is good, it’s not too short but not too long, and low-rise. A couple of the best things about this skirt are the built-in shorts, which are very useful and convenient, and the low-rise. Low-rise jean skirts are ideal to wear in the summer, and are much preferred over mid or high-rise ones, so they can be paired with a cute top without overlapping the bottoms.
PacSun
PacSun is a great runner-up to Aeropostale shorts, because it is of good quality. But personally, it has not been as consistent with the fit. I have been on the hunt for jean shorts before, and have not found the fit I was hoping for from PacSun. Although these shorts are a great option for most people, they tend not to fit in the right places for me. It is rare for me to find shorts that I would actually wear, since I am especially picky about how they look and how they look on me, but with PacSun’s shorts, I find most of them are my style.
Finding the right size, fit, and look can feel unachievable, especially for jean shorts and skirts, but there are many reliable brands that can be optimal for you.
