No matter how many water bottles I own throughout the years, I always end up chasing the next micro-trend. In 2019, I was on the playground trading stickers to decorate my Hydroflask. By my 2023 “preppy” phase, Stanley 1913 tumblers were all I used. For the past year, however, my favorites have been Owala Free Sip water bottles, known for their fun color designs and signature straw designs. What makes them stand out even more are their brand collaborations, which offer styles that appeal to a wide range of tastes. With that, here are my three favorite brands that Owala has collaborated with.
Disney Princess Collection
When I was four years old, Frozen hit theaters, and it quickly became my favorite Disney movie of all time. Even now, I still enjoy movies filled with Disney characters and sing-alongs. So, when I discovered that Owala released a Disney Princess Collection, I was genuinely excited. These water bottles come in 24- and 32-ounce sizes and offer a variety of princess-inspired colorways. While there isn’t a Frozen-themed design, there are still plenty of options, including Rapunzel, Ariel, Cinderella, Belle, Moana, and Tiana. Despite being priced similarly to the other bottles of the same size, they also include movie-themed stickers for extra customization. The Disney Princess Collection is easily my favorite and at the top of my purchase list.
Diet Coke
Anyone who knows me knows I can’t go a week without drinking a Diet Coke, even though I know it isn’t the healthiest habit. Appropriately, I was gifted the 24oz Kisses Special Edition of the Diet Coke x Target collection for Easter this year. At first glance, a soda brand partnering with a waterbottle company might seem unexpected, but that is exactly what makes it stand out. The design leans into the brand’s classic red, silver, and white color scheme, along with a pink “kiss” option I own. While this style offers a better variety of sizes and designs, it was only available during the holiday season. The Diet Coke x Target Owala I have is by far my favorite gift, and it fits my obsession perfectly.
Hearth & Hand with Magnolia
Joanna Gaines, who is an interior designer and television personality on the Home & Garden Television (HGTV) show Fixer Upper, owns the Target-exclusive brand Hearth & Hand with Magnolia. And in February of last year, Hearth & Hand with Magnolia x Owala dropped in Target stores and online. This collection offers a more minimal and neutral design compared to Owalas other collaborations. Instead of bold colors or characters, it focuses on soft tones and a clean, timeless look. While it may not be as eye-catching as other collaborations, its simplicity is what makes it appealing and a solid addition to Owala’s lineup.
No matter the design or collaboration, Owala has found a way to stay at the center of the water bottle trend. From bold, character-inspired collections to simple, everyday styles, each collaboration offers something different while still keeping the same functionality people love. I will likely never switch to a different water bottle brand, despite the constantly changing trends.
