JV tennis struggles to find their groove against FHN

JV tennis had their third match of the season Wednesday night at Forest Hills Northern. They had a tough night, winning only two out of the twelve matches. The team is made up of eight freshmen, three sophomores and only two juniors, making it tough for the young players to find their stride last night. The Rangers also have two new head coaches, Mitch Timyan and Humzah Azeem, making their whole team and staff inexperienced, but slowly starting to coagulate. Alex Lowell and Nicholas Stockenauer managed their way to an 8-5 win, and Aidan OaMeara and Jannis Jacobs won by a scarce margin, 8-6.

The JV team had matches this summer before school started, and had some tough losses to Portage Central and Troy. They also had a dual match against Portage Central and again found themselves on the wrong side of the win-loss column. The varsity team has pulled up a couple JV players to play 5 doubles, which helps the players experience the quickness of varsity matches. Alex Lowell has been pulled up to play a couple times with Joey Killman a varsity alternate. FHC will have some time off before September 9th, when they will take the court next.
