“One of the best decisions I’ve made was joining band in eighth grade because I met a lot of people there and made new friends. Before freshman year, I went to band camp and I met a bunch of upperclassmen. It was really nice to have friends going into high school. I love marching band season because you really bond with your section.

Regattas and crew have also been my favorite parts of high school. I’ve never really done any sports, so I wanted to do something new, and it ended up working really well for me. Crew has taught me how to be a hard worker; you really have to work for what you want. It has also helped me adjust to high school. Through regattas and traveling with each other, we just got really close. Struggling together and spending time together also brought us closer.
