FHC bowling suffers losses to the Northview Wildcats
The Ranger bowling teams had another strugglesome outing against the Northview Wildcats, with the girls falling 28-2 and the boys falling 18-12. Despite some big performances from a few Rangers, it wasn’t nearly enough to beat the prowling Wildcats.
Northview rolled themselves into the state finals last season on both their boys and girls teams, along with their girls team winning the conference title last season and striking up an undefeated conference record. They kept their streak of dominance Wednesday night, knocking down the Rangers just as well as they knocked down the pins on the other end.
Senior Alex Ghareeb was the leading lady of the night for FHC, scoring two consecutive games over 140. She won her individual matchup in the second game with a score of 143-139. The ladies dropped the ball in their overall match to the ferocious Wildcats with a final game score of 684-581, and a match score of 28-2.
The boys team couldn’t stay in their lane on Wednesday either, falling with a game score of 833-769, and an overall score of 18-12. Sophomore Shane Hubble led the way in the first game of the day with a score of 193. Fellow sophomore Cope Hungerford also had a great first game with a score of 192. Senior Burton Jekel came through for the team in the second game, as he was the only victorious Ranger. The pins did not fall but at the end the Rangers did, as the Wildcats claimed the final victory with a score of 18-12.
The bowling teams take some time off for holiday break but will lace up their bowling shoes once again on January 10 against district rival Forest Hills Northern. Last year, both FHC teams took home the victory. Come to Eastbrook Lanes after the New Year to see the Rangers strike again against the Huskies.
