Varsity football preview: Forest Hills Northern Huskies

The Rangers come into this week’s rivalry game following two tough losses with a record of 1-2. They will take on the Huskies from Forest Hills Northern, who sit at 2-1 and are coming off of a big win against Ottawa Hills.

Since FHN joined the OK White two years ago, the Rangers have gone 2-0 against them with a couple blow-out wins. Overall in history, FHC is 10-11 against their sister school. The Huskies come off of a tough 3-6 season last year and are hoping to make a bigger name for themselves, as many key players have matured and improved from the young, sophomore-heavy 2017 team. In the first few games of the year, FHN has played a two-quarterback game with a junior and senior who have both been successful in the air and on the ground. Talented quarterbacks are nothing new for the Rangers, and the solid FHC defense – if playing to full potential – should be able to keep the FHN offense under control.

FHC will host this much-anticipated matchup and is expecting Northern to bring their A-game into the enemy territory. A big focus point this week for the Rangers will be having intensity while keeping emotions in check. In the last two games, FHC scored touchdowns on the opening kickoff then fell flat. The Rangers will look to have that same spark early on and uphold it all game long in order to come out on top.
