Justin Bieber makes a romantic comeback with his new album Changes
It has been an exceptional decade for singer-songwriter Justin Bieber.
In just these past ten years, Bieber has released countless successful records, married the love of his life, and supposedly achieved a net worth of $285 million. To top these accomplishments off, on Valentine’s Day Bieber released an album entitled Changes that embodies love, commitment, and fluency.
Bieber’s initial teaser “Yummy”—released at the beginning of the new year—shot straight to the top of the chart. It’s catchy and repetitive melody emphasizes his dedication and faithfulness to his newlywed wife Hailey Bieber.
Hailey and Bieber first met when Hailey was known as Stephen Baldwin’s daughter and Bieber was known as a teen pop sensation. Time flew by, and they tied the knot in September of 2018. Ever since then, they’ve been inseparable.
Within the lyrics of “Yummy,” Bieber compares his wife to a bona fide stallion. A stallion resembles individuality and strength; therefore, this comparison is extremely flattering.
Bieber’s other lyrics— “Ain’t on the side, you’re number one”—are seven reassuring words to both the world and Hailey that she is the only woman in his life. His devotion to his beloved wife indefinitely proves that true love exists.
Although, as the song plays on, Bieber goes into depth of not just his love for Hailey but also, comedically, their finances.
“Fifty-fifty love the way you split it, hundred racks, help me spend it babe.”
These lyrics are vaguely showing Bieber’s appreciation; Hailey—having her own career of modeling—makes a great amount of profit. Within these words, Bieber is somewhat thanking Hailey for her generosity in regards to the help she has contributed towards his career.
Despite Bieber’s fun and bubbly pre-composure, his next song “Intentions” covers a more sensitive and real-life discussion.
The music video stars every day Angelenos.
It features three women from the Alexandria House—a transitional housing shelter for women with children—in Los Angeles, CA. Bieber is familiar with the struggles these women have gone through, for his mother had him as a teen and was forced out of her own.
“Intentions” is surrounding the hardships women have faced. Bieber and collaborator rapper Quavo are hyping women up with these adoring phrases: “Picture-perfect, you don’t need no filter” and “Triple threat, you a boss, you a bank, you a beast.”
However, the overall message of this song is a tribute to Hailey; the tune is practically a love letter. Because the drop of the song was a week before February 14th, it remains even more special. Bieber’s love for Hailey is so beyond inspiring, and this album is a confirmation that their love will never fail.
“My love for you’s habitual, yeah.”
Bieber’s second song on the playlist is a true love song. Of course, dedicated to Hailey. He describes all of his feelings and emotions as one word: habitual.
He is continuing on the trend of love within this song. Habitual—defined as when some activity becomes a habit—in this context is referring to his strong affection and forever adoration for his wife. “It’s not a temporary thing, but a forever thing,” Bieber says. His beautiful tribute to Hailey warms my heart because of the way they have chosen to express their love.
Knowing the messages of the majority of the songs surround Hailey, it is expected that Changes is dedicated to her. Their marriage is conveyed as strong and everlasting, and that is extremely inspiring to all of the couples that idolize these two figures.
The songs included in Changes all have a specific message or story hidden; deep or not, there is a consistent and catchy melody concluded in each and every song. Despite Bieber’s brief break from the music industry, he has kept his consistency strong.
With his fans’ expectations high, he has produced yet another album that will continue his legacy.
