There is a simple, elegant cafe located in the heart of downtown Ada.  This special place is set in neutral tones of white, black, and brown. Happy smiles and a generous service are what stand out amongst many other highlights at this cafe.  This sophisticated and stylish hot spot is Nonna’s: The Trattoria, and it has much more offer than just casual, upscale dining.

When stepping into Nonna’s, there is a very traditional European flair about the room. Black tables and dark wooden flooring are some of the first visually appealing aspects that are noticed.  Greeted by a bartender that stands behind a small bar, one is given the choice to sit wherever they would like, either indoors or outdoors.

There are several different meal options offered at Nonna’s ranging from all three different menus: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  On the breakfast menu, omelettes, pancakes, oatmeal, and several others are available. The lunch menu provides meals ranging from an assortment of salads to Italian dishes, such as meatballs, mushroom ravioli, and fettuccini alfredo.  As for the dinner menu, salmon, filet, and penne pasta are some of several options are available.

Not to confuse the customer, but Nonna’s has two locations in downtown Ada, each directly across from the other on Ada Drive.  One is Nonna’s Pantry, which is a small bakery and “sweet tooth” shop.  Cookies, muffins, and cakes are baked on a day-to-day basis.  On the opposite side of the street, Nonna’s has opened their trattoria, or an Italian diner or cafe, that serves basic yet sophisticated meals.

One year ago, Nonna’s had only one location: their cafe.  They created two locations, each providing different services.  By doing this, Nonna’s has been able to expand their business and offerings to the public. Also, in the newly created trattoria, outdoor seating is available which ultimately allows for a more pleasant experience at the restaurant – weather permitting.

I arrived at Nonna’s: The Trattoria at approximately noon.  Delighted with the kind faces and exceptional service, I ordered Nonna’s tortellini for lunch, consisting of prosciutto and creamy ricotta filled tortellini noodles with rose sauce.

It could not have been better.  Uncertain about my selection, I found I was  pleased and satisfied with my meal, which cost about $9. The sauce was very creamy and tasty.  In my opinion, it is what “made” the dish.  The amount of tortellini served was the perfect luncheon size.  It was not too much, nor too little.  There is no doubt in my mind that I would order this meal again in the near future.

To conclude, the atmosphere and environment of Nonna’s is like no other in town.  The European charm is truly one of a kind and is a perfect addition to the revitalization effort in downtown Ada.  The meals offered at Nonna’s are extraordinary, yet simply made. If you happen to find yourself looking for a new casual lunch spot that holds class to a standard, I highly suggest you dine at Nonna’s: The Trattoria.
