Silver Bells by The Fox and The Hound gives holiday music a new sound
Christmas is now four days away and I can assume we have all heard the classic holiday songs countless times by now. Instead of dreading the same old tunes being stuck in your head for the rest of the day, try listening to them from this new album. FHC alums Jared DeMeester and Alex Bolen have revived these worn out old carols.
The album is called Silver Bells by The Fox and The Hound. For this album, the two men are joined by a few others and they produce song covers of holiday songs. They used different instruments such as a bass, ukulele, guitar, percussion, vocals, bells, and “skiddly-do.” All the sounds that come together are soothing, yet also a sound that one can jam to in the car with friends.
It is described as indie rock, indie folk, and indie pop, yet some acoustic sounds were thrown in there as well. A few fun songs on the album include the following: “Sleigh Ride,” “Last Christmas,” “O’ Holy Night,” “In the Bleak Midwinter” (feat. Chris Renzema), “Deck the Halls,” and “Silver Bells.”
This album provides different kinds of Christmas jingles with both religious and nonreligious tunes. So if you are not one for religious songs, there are still many options for you. I listened to all of these wonderful tunes on repeat throughout the past few nights. Everytime I listen to this new music, I become even more excited for Christmas, which is rapidly approaching. I would definitely recommend listening to this album and replacing the old songs in your Christmas music stash. This new album is a holiday gem to get all those scrooges into the Christmas spirit.
