Much like TikTok trends that come and go before you even have the chance to catch up, people can also trend on TikTok. The most recent example of this is Alix Earle. 

Alix Earle has been posting on TikTok for years, but it wasn’t until a couple of months ago that her account started to blow up. She was gaining thousands of followers by the hour, mainly on TikTok, but also on other platforms such as YouTube and Instagram. Social media hasn’t seen this quick of a rise to fame since the original TikTok days with the D’amelio sisters and Addison Rae. 

This leads people to wonder what it is about this specific girl that has all of us in such a chokehold. From stalking her TikTok, as well as the hundreds of videos made about her on other accounts, I found that Alix is a beautiful, wealthy, and confident individual, so basically everyone’s dream girl. 

In some ways, you would think this combination of attributes might make you assume she gets a lot of hate simply out of jealousy. However, it is quite the opposite; she is giving young girls—girls of any age, for that matter—something to strive for. 

She takes every opportunity that is thrown at her, and she does it in such a manner that makes you think you could live that way. In fact, she has inspired person after person to start making their own “get ready with me” videos, which she is famous for. 

Of course, this is technically an unrealistic standard to put on someone, but it would seem Alix can do no wrong. The phrase “Alix said to do this” or “Alix said to buy that” has been thrown around, and her influence is selling out products within hours of her posting, which explains why brands want to work with her so badly. 

Entire Amazon storefronts are being cultivated so people can wear her look, and salons around the U.S. are seeing her as an inspirational photo of what color blonde they want to go to. 

Aside from the fact that she is obviously beautiful, she also manages to come off as very genuine in her videos; despite her situation being rather unique, she is still relatable. 

Each “get ready with me” video feels like her followers are on FaceTime with her, and her “story times” are just personal enough that we all feel like we know her. 

Since her rise to fame, she has started getting invited to more and more events: red carpets, brand trips, and even celebrity parties. Oftentimes, she is attending these events one after another. 

Many question how she is able to balance school, social media, and a social life, but she appears to be doing it all gracefully. 

Although it’s been a while since we have seen a person go this viral, I can only hope she is not a trend that will get brushed over with time. People this popular have a tendency to get canceled a few months into fame, and I sincerely hope that is not the case for this TikTok “it” girl.
