Junior Ty George’s lights out shooting combined with a stand out two way performance from senior John Fuller led varsity basketball to a 62-48 win over EGR Tuesday night.

After the Rangers took an early lead off a Ty George three ball, FHC never looked back holding the lead all 32 minutes of Tuesday night’s contest.

Ty fueled the Ranger offense early in the first half finishing with five three point field goals, and finished with 20 points, shooting 6/9 from beyond the arc. Senior Kyle Pierce also jumped in the action early for the Rangers, knocking down an open three late in the half.

“Guys were just finding me early,” Ty said. “I think it’s a tribute to my warmup today, last game wasn’t as hard and today I came out sweating. I knocked a couple [three’s] down early. I also have these games a couple times a year where I come out and I know i’m feeling hot.”

John Fuller also had a huge night, finishing with 9 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and a block and a steal to all fall on top of it. Coach Ken George called it his best night in a Rangerball uniform.

“I told him it was his best varsity game by far,” George said. “He’s had games where he was 20 points and 10 rebounds, but tonight it was his effort, his energy, his talk. I feel like the he was around the ball the whole game, I just couldn’t take him off the floor.”

John felt like the overall energy the team brought tonight was electric, especially on a night after a long day with no school.

“Rebounding especially tonight was a testament to the work we put into practice, and the effort we put into the game tonight,” John said. “Like coach always says, you in the effort in practice, it’ll all payoff in the end.”

The Ranger offense slowed a little in the second half, especially in the fourth quarter. That didn’t stop Sal Sidebotham from putting up 10 late points including a big time three point play underneath the basket.

The complete performance — with energy and heart — was harped on by Coach George after the game.

“Here was what I was most excited about tonight, it was a non-league game on a Tuesday night, where our student section didn’t even stand, and if you really watched our guys it looked like the most important game they’ve ever played,” George said. “If a team can start to do that, whether it’s Friday night packed, Tuesday night empty, Tuesday night road, non-league, in practice, and just have that [energy], it makes a team really tough to play against.”
