TCT’s The Countless Thanks 2023: Litany Gaines

TCTs+The+Countless+Thanks+2023%3A+Litany+Gaines

To Talitha, for karaoke duets

We definitely don’t get along most of the time but when we do, we always have a great time. Our dressing up and singing karaoke in my bedroom never fails to bring me happiness. I will always be able to appreciate losing our voices to Doja Cat with our makeshift microphones.

To Locken Gaines, for nothing in particular

Since we are older now we don’t really hang out much but when we do you are definitely entertaining to be around. You never fail to make me laugh and I can’t thank you enough for coming and killing spiders in my room when I am up at random hours of the night. I love you, little bro, keep killing spiders for me please.

To Big Mike, for your dumb jokes

Every day I work with you, you have a new ridiculous joke that I cringe at. You always get a kick out of annoying me with your aged humor and I honestly can’t thank you enough for it. Your dumb jokes always make me smile when I am having a bad day. Aside from jokes, I always appreciate your advice and love working with you.

To Jaelynn Painter, for being my sixth-hour bestie

I love having sixth hour with you. Without you, I would not be able to be in that hour, or else it would be so boring. You are so sweet and always have something interesting to update me on and I love it. Hanging out with you is always great and I enjoy being your friend so much. Thanks for making sixth hour interesting Jay!

To Katie Cushman, for tolerating me

Since the beginning of being in orchestra together, you have always had to put up with me. Besides tolerating me, you also give good advice and keep me from making stupid decisions along with Kayla. Every class I have with you is always great because you’re fun to be around and always make me laugh. Thank you for tolerating my antics Katie, I love you.

To Norah Schaafsma, for suffering with me in math

I don’t think I could survive math without you Norah. I love talking to you in class, and I am so happy that we are friends. You are so kind and supportive and literally have the best advice. I love math class because I get to hang out with you, otherwise, I would absolutely hate it. I love you Norah, thank you for being such a great friend!

To Dad, for humorous moments

Some of my favorite times with you are when we are watching dumb TV shows and the funny comments you make about everything in the show. You always tend to add comedic relief to things which is always appreciated and your cooking always makes me happy. I am so happy to have you as my dad and I love you so much. Thanks for making TV so much funnier, and the top-tier cooking, I love you!

To Sarah Hughes, for our disorderly conversations

Every time I talk to you it is absolutely chaotic and I love it. You’re so fun to be around and I always have a great time with you. Every conversation with you is interesting, especially our ones during architecture class and I wouldn’t trade them for anything. You’re a great friend, and I am so happy we have classes together. I love you, Sarah, thank you for all the chaotic conversations and the many more to come.

To Ben Hill, for being the best cousin

Despite our differences and petty arguments, you have never failed to be a great cousin and friend. I always have a great time when I am with you and you always make me laugh. You have great advice and you’re one of the funniest people I know. I definitely wouldn’t be able to survive family gatherings without you. Every time we hang out chaos ensues and I wouldn’t want it to be any other way. I love you Ben, thank you for being my partner in crime.

To Mom, for having the best hugs and supporting me

Your hugs literally always make me feel better. No matter how sad I am, one of your hugs can calm me and lighten my mood immediately and I love them so much. Not only are you the best hugger but one of my number one supporters, even though you don’t always agree with me. We have grown so much together and you have helped me to become who I am. I love you so much Mom and I can’t thank you enough for what you have done for me.

To Kayla Compton, for always being there

Since fourth grade, you have always been there for me. You let me drag you along to random events and stores and are always there to be my personal driver when my car isn’t working as usual. Through almost everything you have been there for me, and we have both grown together so much. You’re one of the only people that put up with my constant talking and wild eccentric personality and I can’t thank you enough for it. Thank you for being my best friend throughout it all Kayla, I love you.

To Emalea Rooke, for always having the best advice

Em, I can’t thank you enough for how much you have helped me grow as a person with your great advice, especially these past few weeks. You are the sweetest person ever and I am so happy I became friends with you. You make everyone around you feel so comfortable and cared for and are so helpful. I can’t be more thankful that we became friends and I can’t wait to make so many more fun memories with you. You mean so much to me and always have a great time with you. Thank you for being the sweetest person ever, Em, I love you.

To Sydney Fentzke, for being my home away from home

For most of high school, you have always been there for me. You are like a home away from home for me. You never hesitated to open your arms and home to me during hard times and I cannot thank you enough. I feel like you always think the best of me and that means so much to me. You are like a sister to me Sydney, and you mean so much to me. We have made so many great memories together that I will always cherish, like camping in your minivan and late-night drives with blasting music. I love you, Squid, thank you for being my home away from home.

To Isaac Spratke, Kayla Compton, Katie Cushman, Megan Boersema, Kaden LaJoie, and Lily Zorn, for making Orchestra my favorite class

The past years in Orchestra with you guys have been amazing and I will miss it so much after we graduate. Orchestra has always been my favorite hour because of you guys. We always have fun together and I will never forget all the crazy stuff we have done during the hour together. The New York trip and the bus ride there and back will always be cherished for how fun and chaotic it was with you guys. No play days with you guys will always be some of my favorite days because of the pandemonium that happens, and all the laughs that we share. I love all of you guys and am so happy that we have gotten to be in Orchestra together the last few years, and have become close friends with so many of you.
