The Sims 4 has been my all-time favorite life simulator since I was 11 years old. For the past six years, I’ve acquired each pack that is full of different content, but the newest expansion pack is a game-changer.
On Dec. 7, the much anticipated For Rent Expansion Pack was released.
This expansion allows Sims to own and manage a rental property where multiple households can live.
This means lots of gameplay and drama between Sims, I know myself, and many other Simmers are super excited about this new pack and have been for a while. I have always wanted manageable rental properties in The Sims since the release of the Sims 4 City Living, and now we have them!
Before I go off on a tangent, we are looking specifically at the Create a Sim, Build, and Buy items in the For Rent Expansion Pack. With For Rent being a full expansion pack, there is a ton of content. There is so much in Create a Sim that I do not have room to talk about each piece, but I’ll highlight my favorite pieces.
To start, female Sims aged teens to elders have a ton of pastels and neutral tones in this pack. Throughout all the outfits… I would say my favorite are the earthy tones, but that’s just me being biased towards neutral tones.
Moving on to our newer life stage: infants, I was so excited to see items for all ages of Sims, including our new infants, in the For Rent Expansion Pack. I will say the infant clothing seems a little copied and pasted with just different colors and designs, but I’ll take the extra content.
I absolutely love the boho look for our male Sims, aged teen to elder, and I say this about all the packs… but I want more content for our male Sims.
The new hairstyles are so fun, and I can’t wait to use them on my Sims. The newer Sims 4 hairs have definitely improved over the years, from being very chunky and clarified hair to more detailed and delicate hair.
With a new lot type, it’s definitely expected by the Sims community to have new building items to build with. There are doors, windows, chimneys, roofs, beams, floors, walls, and more.
The one piece I saw right away was the new wood floor, which is a lovely basic wood floor that can easily be in every room. I will be abusing this wood floor in future builds and putting it absolutely everywhere.
There are several new wall paints as well, and they have a variety of patterns. The theme for this pack is a mix of wood, pastel, and floral patterns. Personally, I’m not the type of Simmer to use patterned walls as I like to keep the walls fairly simple and just paint them.
The furniture and decor items are kind of an eclectic boho style which I will never say no to. The other decor items are mostly wall decor items that add realism to the game. A lot of it is showing bricks so if you want to tell a story of a run-down apartment you definitely could take that route.
I will say I would’ve liked to see the Sims team go back and do a revamp on some older packs rather than just adding yet another paywall for content.
If you’re a Simmer who loves drama and building, I definitely would recommend this pack. I can’t wait to explore this pack more.
