There’s someone I know who will always love just a little bit too hard and a little bit too much. Not necessarily in a romantic way, she just loves every person she was ever friends with.
Whenever she makes a new friend, she instantly thinks they’re best friends far too fast. When she and one of her friends talk about someone, she almost immediately says they’re her favorite person in the world. That may seem like a lie, but she truthfully thinks that.
She has a friend who says that she falls in love with every person she’s ever known. It seemed ridiculous at first; how could she fall in love with someone she barely knew? When the girl that I know thought about it further, she realized that she was the same way. She falls in love with the people in her lab group for physics, she falls in love with every single one of her friends, and she falls in love with the people that she passes in the hallway at the same time every single day. Love doesn’t have to be a romantic thing. It can be the fact that she looks forward to seeing whoever she knows, whether she truly knows them or not.
She looks forward to the quick conversations in the hallway—just talking to her friends makes her mood lift. She looks forward to hearing the girl that she passes talk about how she doesn’t like ankle socks very much. She looks forward to hearing the people who sit behind her in one of her classes talk about how they love decorating the Christmas tree with their family, even though it might be kind of weird. She likes hearing about how their friend says that it’s not weird; it’s family time.
The girl that I know mirrors every single one of my actions. Though she doesn’t always like it, she’s had every thought that I’ve ever had. Her blue eyes are the same as mine. She looks forward to the same classes as I do. She loves the same as I do.
The girl has the same friends as me. She loves them more than anything, and she’s always afraid of losing them because, while she falls in love with everyone, she falls in love with them the hardest. She’s noticed more about them than they know; she noticed her friend who wore a ring all of last year and then watched it disappear and then get replaced with a new one. She notices her friend slowly space out, and then she reaches to hold her friend’s hand because nobody should have to suffer alone. She watches her friends tie their shoes as she stays behind to wait for them. She notices every little thing that they do because she loves them too much.
This girl who falls too hard says I love you to her friends every time she has to say goodbye to them. She says she loves them because she’s so afraid of losing them.
She’ll always end up falling in love within minutes of meeting someone. She’ll fall in love a little too quickly and just a little too much. Regardless of the heartbreak, she’ll never regret it because no matter what happens, she’ll always have small smiles and quick high-fives with the people that she barely knows.
