Everyone knows that in order not to get bored while flying to your next destination, you need the perfect flying playlist. My idea of the perfect flight is being in my feelings and just thinking about everything going on in my life. I prefer to listen to music and look out the window. That’s why this list is going to consist mainly of depressing songs.
To start the flight and to kick off the overthinking, you need to start with the most dramatic songs. If you’re ever about to take off but are struggling to find the right song, these three are some of the best. I’m here to give you some perfect takeoff songs to have the most thought-provoking beginning of your flight.
“Free Now” by Gracie Abrams
All throughout social media, I’ve seen that “Free Now” is the most popular choice for takeoff songs. And, yes, while it’s a basic choice, it’s basic for a reason. It’s the perfect way to begin a flight.
The song starts off calm, which is perfect for when you’re just taxiing around the tarmac getting ready for takeoff. Then, you have to time it perfectly. As the plane speeds up, it’s very important that a specific part of the song plays. You need the song at about one minute and 50 seconds. If you set it up correctly, it could change your entire flight experience. “It’s a pain that I caught you at a bad time / It’s a shame that I memorized your outline / You were straight up with me, you were so kind.” It really is the perfect, most dramatic start to any flight.
“Waiting Room” by Phoebe Bridgers
“Waiting Room” is another perfect way to begin your “thought-daughter” experience. If you want to spend your whole flight sad and emotional, this is the best choice.
At approximately three minutes and eight seconds, the line “Know it’s for the better” begins to repeat. It then repeats 36 times, becoming more intense each time. The music becomes more passionate with each line, and it truly is a great way to kick off your flight.
A takeoff song is important because it shows how the rest of your flight will go. That’s why, if you want to be depressed your whole flight, “Waiting Room” is such a good option.
“Ribs” by Lorde
“Ribs” is a popular song on social media, but I haven’t heard too much about it being the perfect takeoff song. I would highly suggest listening to “Ribs” as a takeoff song.
Like the other two songs, it begins mostly calmly. However, after just a few seconds, the beat begins to slightly accelerate. The first chorus starts about a minute and a half into the song, and it’s pretty upbeat. After the chorus, it’s a slower, calmer beat again. Two minutes and 50 seconds is the part that you want to be playing as the plane speeds up. From then on, it’s upbeat and also features perfect lyrics.
It’s essential to pick the perfect song for your takeoff, as it sets the mood for the whole flight. If you’re ever on a plane about to take off, these three songs are some of the best choices to play.
