Try to live in the moment

Try to live in the moment

“Live for each moment. Today well lived makes every yesterday a memory of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope.”

This quote is something I think everyone could learn from and make their goal each and every day. Just about everybody in our society today is guilty of thinking about the past or future. But what about the Now? Why do so many people live everywhere but the Now?

I think that if you start living in the present, it helps you appreciate your everyday life, you begin to be thankful for the little things in life. Later, these little moments that you acknowledge become big things that turn into memories. You never really realize how little time you have to live until one day you have no more days and you wish you remembered the little moments in life that could make you happy.

The reason we do not remember the little things is because we rush through life. We live in a generation of multitasking, also known as the age of distraction. Kids are on their phones and on social media sharing or taking picture of what they are doing and when they do that; they can’t fully enjoy their life. I think the abundance of phone screens are

really taking away from the idea of living in the Now, they distract and keep people from spending time with each other.

So often we let the present slip away, myself included. We always wish we were somewhere else. When we are at school, we wish we were at home. In the winter, we wish we were on vacation. Well, one day, we will no longer be in school. We will be the seniors that realize we’re done with high school. These years slip away so much faster than anyone knows until they experience it and as soon as they experience it, it has slipped away.

Squandering the precious times of the past or future will ruin your present. Your past is done, you can’t do anything about it. Your future will come, you just have to wait for it. Your present is here. You can do something about it. Let your present unfold before you.
