JV soccer struggles in early season showdown against the Huskies of FHN
The Rangers had a big matchup against rivals Forest Hills Northern this week. The Rangers struggled in the early going, quickly going down one within 10 minutes. They had troubles possessing the ball and finding a good pace to compete. Throughout the first half the Huskies dominated offensively, tacking on three more goals putting the Rangers in a deep hole. The Rangers would not find a way to climb out of this hole going into the half down 4-0.
Starting the second half the Rangers continued to struggle, unable to give themselves a momentum swing. The Huskies picked up right where they left off scoring early in the second half putting the Rangers out of reach. FHN would finish the game strong scoring two more goals to make it 7-0.
The Rangers finally got something in the back of the net with a late goal from sophomore forward Micah Gschwind. It would not nearly be enough as the Rangers fell to the Huskies 7-1. The Huskies were the dominant team giving the Rangers no chance to catch fire or ride any momentum from start to finish.
