JV Soccer holds on as they pick up their first win of the season
Coming off a tough loss against the Huskies of FHN this past week, the Rangers bounced back and defeated the Ottawa Hills Bengals Thursday night. Micah Gschwind started to day with a very nice PK (penalty kick), as the Rangers controlled the pace and tempo of the first half. The Bengals gave their best effort of keeping it a close game, tacking on a goal of their own and tying the ballgame. The Rangers would draw blood again going into the half. They would find themselves in the locker room with a 2-1 lead.
The Rangers started pulling away in the second half, as they sought out their first win of the season. They wanted it more than anything, the effort and drive shined through. Once again they controlled the pace and tempo possessing the ball a large majority of the second half. Gschwind would add to to his big day in the scoring column, making it 3-1 and sending the Rangers even closer to their first win.
A fourth Ranger goal secured the win completely. The Bengals had a little fire left in them, however, scoring on a PK late in the game due to a costly penalty from FHC. The late heroics were far too little far too late, as the Rangers held onto their lead and received their first win as well as a conference win, 4-1. This comes at a perfect time with conference play starting to heat up.
