Freshman volleyball sneaks past Northview 2-1
Freshmen Lily VanSkiver came up big for the Lady Rangers as they narrowly beat the Northview Wildcats 2-1 Tuesday night. Lily passed the ball very well as well as hit the ball consistently. This made her hard to stop, as the Wildcats could not respond to her outstanding performance. The Rangers came out strong after a tough loss to the rival FHN last Tuesday night. The team obliterated Northview 25-16 in the first game, narrowly losing the second game 24-25, then pulling out a 16-15 win to top it off.
The first game was not even close, as Lily and crew led the Lady Rangers to a whopping 25-16 win and it looked like the Rangers would put this battle with Northview away shorter than expected. But it came down to who was mentally tougher and who was the better team, and the Rangers certainly proved that beating the Wildcats 16-15.
The Rangers bounce back and improve to 1-1 in their conference. Lily Schuurman says the goal is to focus on the next game and to talk more, since that was a big issue Tuesday night. The Rangers will play the Greenville Yellow Jackets at FHC Thursday night in what is supposed to be an exciting game.
