Varsity field hockey has big weekend, picking up two wins
On Saturday, the Rangers varsity field hockey team took care of business defeating Grosse Pointe North 10-0. After waking up early to go play in the heat they came out with a well-deserved win. The goals were dispersed throughout different people on the team. 3 of the goals were scored by senior Kirsten Fentzke. Madison Bruno added 2 herself and Rain Tarango netted a pair as well. Mallory Jacobs, Karah Martin, and Madisyn Bunke each scored a goal helping with the blowout victory.
“Something that helped us win the first game, was connecting our passes and running our plays correctly,” said junior forward-midfielder Madisyn Bunke.
The Rangers played the second game against Dearborn and beat them 3-0. By the start of this game, the turf had reached a dangerous temperature of 95 degrees. Kirsten Fentzke had another big game with 2 goals with great tips off of shots by players to her at the corner to push in clear of the goalie. Madison Bruno had a goal that was off of a backsweep and juggled through a group of people yet still managing to find the net.
“With 2 solid wins this weekend we are reaching nearer and nearer to our end goal of a state championship,” Madison Bruno said. “We look very connected and concentrated with our plays right now.”
