What is your outlook on the season?
“We’ve had a good year so far, not as good as years past, but the encouraging part of this season is that we keep making progress. Once Conferences, Regionals, and States come up, then we know that we are going to have to bring everything we have in order to win.”
Why do you play tennis?
“My reason for playing tennis was because of my family. My mom was a 4 year varsity player in high school and my sister played it too, so I started playing just because I wanted to follow my sister around and be with her. But once I found out how much fun it was, I never stopped playing.”
What is your biggest inspiration in tennis?
“My family and my teammates are my biggest inspirations. One of the most powerful moments of my high school tennis career was watching Cooper James play his last match ever and tell myself and my former doubles partner to ‘win for me, win for the rest of the seniors, win for Dan, and win for yourself’. Also, my parents have told me they find enjoyment [in watching] me win and finding that all of my hard work is paying off, so I always want to play for them”.
What are your plans for the future?
“I am hoping to attend either Michigan State University or Hope College, and possibly play tennis at Hope.”
How long have you been playing tennis?
“7 years.”
Who is your favorite tennis player?
“Jo Wilfred Tsonga.”
What is your favorite quote?
“Tennis is almost all mental. You win or you lose a match before you even walk out there.” -Pete Sampras
