JV Soccer suffers a tough loss against Portage Northern 2-1
It was another Husky hunt for the Rangers as they went up against Portage Northern this past weekend. The Rangers were coming off a close loss to cross town rivals Forest Hills Northern, and they were hungry for a win. First blood was drawn by the Huskies within five minutes of the start of the first half. The game was back and forth for the rest of the half but neither team would find twine.
Coming into the second half the Rangers were trailing 1-0, the Huskies would strike again with a nice chip shot over the goalies head to go up 2-0. FHC kept fighting with an impressive defensive stand in the home stretch as the Huskies had many chances. With time winding down the Rangers turned to the leading scorer Micah Gschwind, he turned a simple clear by the goalie into a brilliant goal and that is why they call him the heart and soul of FHC JV soccer.
The late heroics by Gschwind would not be enough for the Rangers they would lose with a final of 2-1. The Rangers will need to bounce back after two heartbreaking losses if they want to be the frontrunner in the OK white.
