Freshman Volleyball grabs 2nd place out of 6 in EGR
The Freshman Lady Rangers performed very well in a competitive tournament in East Grand Rapids, finishing 2nd out of six good teams. They finished with a 4-2 record this past Saturday. Freshmen Cora Kelly and Delaney Tucker were the main keys to success in finishing very high in a tournament with all sorts of talent. Some of the teams in the tournament included were FHE, Hudsonville, West Catholic, and Kenowa Hills. FHC finished behind the Catholic Central Cougars, who grabbed the gold.
The games against Eastern and Kenowa Hills were the best games played in the tournament. The Lady Rangers played very well as a team and communicated well. Cora Kelly continued to hit the ball very well along with Delaney’s amazing team play, which proved to be the perfect combination. The Rangers came up short against the Cougars from Catholic Central, making that their first loss since their first conference game against FHN. FHC is looking better and better each week, as they prepare for important matches in the upcoming weeks.
The Rangers overall record is now 8-3, which is very impressive, especially in the OK white. They prepare for two battles this week, one being on the road against Ottawa Hills on Tuesday, and one being at home trying to extract revenge on their arch-nemesis FHN Huskies. They’ve been waiting to play ever since their loss to the Huskies on the road. The Freshman Volleyball team also has a new coach, so their goal is trying to bond with the coach. With that comes adversity and they are trying to battle all the changes they have in their season.
