Sports Report Staff Fantasy Football Guide for Week 5
Who performed the best?
- Deshaun Watson, the rookie out of Clemson, had an outstanding day for the Houston Texans including 283 yards 4 passing touchdowns and 1 rushing touchdown. He ended with 34 points
- Todd Gurley is another player who had a great week. He has been averaging a solid 12 points per game. Last week he had 27 points, 121 rushing yards 94 receiving yards and a TD reception.
Who were some disappointments?
-
- Jay Ajayi was a big disappointment in week 4 for the second straight week
- Matt Ryan also had a bad week, he lost his main target Julio Jones to an injury.
- Amari Cooper had a disappointing week, due to his starting QB going down with an injury.
- Melvin Gordon had a very low score this week only getting a couple carries.
Who to play?
- Duke Johnson is a pretty solid play going into week 5. He is the Browns leading rusher and has the most receptions on the team. He is a good flex play.
- Chris Thompson is a young player with a lot of explosiveness. He is averaging close to 18 points through 4 weeks.
- The Vikings defense is a smart play for week 5. They are going up against the Bears who only have 1 win this season. Also the Bears are starting their rookie quarterback, Trubisky.
Who to sit?
- Amari Cooper should not be in the starting lineup this week. He is struggling this season. He is also going up against the Ravens, who are the number 1 receiving defense in the league.
- As surprising as it may sound, Bilal Powell should be sitting this week. The Browns are a very good run stopping team and will most likely shut him down.
- The logic here is simple: Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has a date with Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson, one of the NFL’s best defensive players.
Injuries
- Dalvin Cook is ruled out for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL.
- Derek Carr has been ruled out 2-6 weeks with a fracture in his back
- Julio Jones suffered a minor injury last Sunday against the Bills, but he should be back after the Falcons’ bye week
Sleepers for next week
- Marshawn Lynch is a big sleeper. Now that Derek Carr is out for the season he will get much more carries. Pln on him going off in the next coming weeks.
- Deshaun Watson threw for 283 yards and 4 touchdowns against a good Titans team. Although he plays the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs this week, he is a very good backup quarterback to have when you need him.
- Latavius Murray is a big sleeper since he is the backup for the injured rookie Dalvin Cook. Expect big time carries and big time results going against a weak Bears defense.
