“I grew up going to Spanish immersion, so Ada Vista, and I went there until 4th grade. In 5th grade, I moved to Appleton, Wisconsin and stayed there for two years. Then I moved back in 6th grade, and I’ve been here since. I asked my teachers [in Wisconsin] if I could read books in Spanish during reading time but they said no, and I tried to take college classes, as a 5th grader- but they wouldn’t let me do that either- so I went two years without speaking Spanish.”
