Audrey’s Sports Blog: The referees aren’t helping the Lions
The Losing Lions had a rough game on Sunday December 3rd, losing to the Ravens 20-44. Although they played terribly, I am still dumbfounded by the amount of ridiculous calls made by the referees.
I know the refs are just doing their job, but they are making it personal. The numerous calls that shouldn’t have been made, but were made anyway, cost many games for the Lions. I think that they are just being petty and need to put an end to this nonsense.
One game that really got me going would be the game against the Falcons. With 12 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Matthew Stafford found Golden Tate in the end zone wide open and ready to take the lead. The pass was successful. However, upon review, the referees overruled the original call due to a nonsense 10 second-runoff, and the Lions suffered their first loss of the season.
Another game that was outrageous would be the game against the Titans last year. The Lions were in perfect position to score a touchdown and gain a lead, but the refs wouldn’t let that happen. Eric Ebron shook safety DaaNorris Searcy so badly in the end zone that the refs thought he pushed off of him and threw a flag, nullifying the Lions touchdown.
Throughout the years the Lions have lost multiple games due to the refs negativity. I would really like to know what they have against them.
The refs have made me lose my passion for the game. They simply have something personal against the lions. I know they are sometimes a weak looking team, but if they gave them even the slightest chance, I really believe they could take it somewhere.
