FHC bowling team is victorious in season-opener
The boys bowling team came out strong in their season opener Wednesday night, beating Ottawa Hills. Ottawa Hills was not able to field a girls team this year, so FHC’s girls bowling team bowled for an average score. Senior Alex Ghareeb came out in the lead for the girls with a score of 191. With always successful sophomore bowler Cope Hungerford unable to compete in this matchup, senior Burton Jekel stepped up and led the boys to their victory. Burton came out victorious with a score of 187. With just seven players on each the boys and girls teams, the bowlers have become very close and look to improve their overall record and teamwork this year.
This win puts the team at 1-0 in the Conference and overall. The Rangers will face Caledonia at home next week on Tuesday, December 12 for a challenging non-conference game. The Scots have had a strong season so far, with their girls team taking home a championship and the boys team placing fifth in a tournament last weekend. This uphill battle will be tricky for FHC, but they are confident going into this intense battle. With a mostly losing season last year, coming out with a strong win in this year’s first game was exciting for the team and they look to stretch their record to 2-0 next Tuesday.
