Where are sports legends now: David Ortiz
David Ortiz is possibly one of the most overlooked players to play in the MLB. He set countless records and won numerous awards. After going through many hardships to make his name known, Ortiz retired with a successful career behind him.
Outstanding was one word that you could use to describe Ortiz’s career. He managed to secure the World Series title three times and won a World Series MVP. Not only that, but he also took the All Star title ten times throughout his career.
Retiring in 2016, the Boston Red Sox retired his jersey, number 34. Ortiz decided to leave the MLB to become more of a family man and spend more time with his family. His wife Tiffany, and three daughters were his biggest supporters and he decided that it would be good if he could be a bigger part of their life.
In 2007, Ortiz and his family started the David Ortiz Children’s Fund. This charity gave money to a wide variety of the Ortiz family favorite causes. They supported charities from his home country, the Dominican Republic and beyond.
David Ortiz was a great inspiration to all. Between his work with charity and his work in the MLB, Ortiz will never be forgotten.
