Girls varsity basketball preview: Ottawa Hills Bengals

After coming out flat and allowing Lowell to take and maintain a lead throughout the entire game, FHC suffered a tough loss to the Red Arrows last week. The Lady Rangers look to bounce back tonight against the Bengals from Ottawa Hills. Lowell also beat the Bengals with a large victory margin.

Although FHC came out on top in both matchups last year, Ottawa Hills has a new coach this year and are very good at attacking the hoop. With an extremely aggressive and physical lineup, the Rangers have to focus on playing their game instead of getting drawn into the Bengals’ style of play. Last year, Ottawa Hills had over 20 offensive rebounds against FHC, so a goal for the Rangers will be to ensure they box out the opponent and take away the second chance at points.

A win tonight would put FHC at 3-2 in the OK White Conference and give them momentum going into Friday’s game against Forest Hills Northern. A normally exciting district rivalry between these schools has been intensified in the girls varsity basketball world, as each school won one regular season game in the final seconds last year. The Huskies then knocked the Rangers out of the District Finals to end FHC’s season on a freethrow. A win tonight over Ottawa Hills will bring FHC’s confidence up and carry them into the Battle of the Hills on Friday.
