Gymnastics falls to Rockford 145-139.9
Forest Hills gymnastics went into last night’s meet hoping to earn qualifying scores for the fast-approaching Regional Meet. In order to be eligible to compete, a gymnast must earn four qualifying scores for a specific event. Last night, many Rangers earned the necessary scores. As a team, however, they fell to Rockford 145-139.9.
Sophomore Lajila Hadzimujic earned her first qualifying score on the vault with an 8.1. Sophomores Hannah Walters and Olivia Jeong also both secured qualifying scores on the vault. Junior Maheen Mulligan earned an 8.325 on the floor, as well as sophomore Veronica Wagner earning a qualifying score on the beam. Senior Hannah Kuhlmann, in her first meet back after an injury, came out strong and earned two qualifying scores on the vault and floor with points in the high eight range.
The gymnasts will head to Canton this weekend for an invitational meet. With a few gymnasts back from injuries and the highest team score all season earned last night, Forest Hills has momentum heading into its next meet.
