Dreams came true yesterday as five FHC seniors signed to play collegiate sports. The signing took place in the gym lobby where families, friends, and coaches watched as each athlete signed their letter of intent to continue their sports at the next level. The athletes answered a few quick questions.

Jessica Fuller

Basketball, University of Vermont

Q: Why did you chose Vermont?

A: “Because of the people and the coaches. I had the best relationship with them and I just felt the most comfortable with them and even though it’s far away I felt like I was close to home.”

Q: What’s your favorite part about basketball?

A: “It’s a stress reliever; it’s my escape from everything.”

Connor Kelly

Baseball, Harding University

Q: Why did you chose Harding?

A: “It was the perfect fit for me I was looking for a medium to small size school. The coaches there were great too and when I got on campus it really felt like the right place for me.”

Q: What’s your favorite part about baseball?

A: “It’s a game of failure. You learn a lot about yourself. You fail a lot but when you have success it’s that much better.”

Taylor Haaroja

Rowing, Drake University

Q: Why did you chose Drake?

A: “Because I just loved everything about the university and I loved Des Moines, Iowa.

Q: What’s your favorite part about rowing?

A: “It’s fun and I like the team. It also keeps me in shape.”

Ashley Luna

Dance, Calumet College of St. Joseph

Q: Why did you chose Calumet College of St. Joseph?

A: “I wanted to move to Indiana and this was a really nice college for the degree I want to pursue, which is forensic science. They actually came to me and asked me to try out out so I did the tryout process and they wanted me on the team.”

Q: What’s your favorite part about dance?

A:“Performing and showing people who I am through dancing instead of having to tell people who I am. It’s the perfect way to express yourself.”

Taylor Reis

Lacrosse, Davenport University

Q: Why did you chose Davenport?

A: “I really like the coach and I knew him before because he was my club coach. Also, it’s close to home which is good because I wanted to be.”

Q: What’s your favorite part about lacrosse?

A: “It’s a team sport. I like having a team to rely on. I never had it mixed with three schools before and I liked that.”
