GVSU girls and boys track meet

The Ranger varsity track team recently had their first meet at Grand Valley. The boys and girls teams both had individuals who performed well, but neither team was able to take home a win.

For the boys, junior Ryan Talbot and senior Tristan Kerr placed in the top 5 in the 60-meter hurdles, which were both personal records (PRs). Ryan also finished in first place in pole vault, setting a new PR and only inches away from a school record. Seniors Hunter Campbell and Mo Guerrier got 13th and 7th in a 60 meter dash, respectively, and both set new PRs. Junior Jeffrey Batterbee set a PR of 2.00.32 minutes in the 800-meter dash. Senior Seth Udell had a PR in shot put with 39.9 meters. The boy track relays also performed well and are on the up-track compared to previous years.

For the girls team, junior Jordan Boltres did well in two different races, the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes. Sophomore Nicole Marco came away with a PR in the 800-meter and mile runs and a first-place finish in both events.

With a lot of new faces on both teams, the future is bright and team wins are likely to come. The next meet for the track team is scheduled for Saturday, April 14 in the King of the Hills meet against Forest Hills Eastern and Northern. Weather permitting, FHC will look to take the win in this rivalry meet.
