“Most people don’t know that my family is part Ukrainian. Some nights, for birthdays and special occasions, we have this tradition of having a three-course meal. We start with cold food, then hot food, dessert, and then tea. My parents and I also help each other with speaking the language. I speak to them in English, and they talk to me in Ukrainian so we help each other out.”
