JV softball splits with Zeeland East
JV softball went on the road to Zeeland East last night for a showdown with the Chix. A rough defensive night from the Rangers resulted in a split double header, as FHC lost the first game 12-11 and won the second 11-9.
Sophomore Caitlin Snyder took the circle in game one to walk 3, strike out 6, and give up 10 hits. She had no defensive efforts backing her up, however, and 8 errors resulted in 12 runs for Zeeland East. Despite the disappointing defense, the Rangers were still able to put up 11 runs, thanks to freshman Katie Tellier going 4-4 with a double and sophomore Jordyn Carlson going .500 at the plate.
The second game was another close one as the Ranger defense again committed a number of errors. An 8 strikeout night from freshman Faith Addington still resulted in 9 runs for the Chix due to 6 defensive errors. Caitlin, sophomore Val Gill, and freshman Bela Gonzalez all racked up multiple hits, while Jordyn continued her hot night by going 3-4.
FHC’s offense has been a bright spot all season long, but the team looks to reduce the errors in order to have a more sound defense. The Rangers have a busy week of non conference games before taking on Lowell next week.
