FHC Crew places highly at the Laddie Cup
Varsity Crew traveled to Detroit this past weekend to compete in the St. Mary’s Laddie Cup Regatta. Both the men and women’s teams had very strong outings against some of the best teams in the midwest.
Four boats placed third including Women’s Varsity 4+, Men’s Junior 8+, and the Women’s Lightweight 4+. In the Women’s Varsity 4+ were seniors Grace Cool and Lauren Hackerd, junior Katie Johnson, sophomore Kendra Wolffis, and as the coxswain, junior Krystal Koski. Competing in the Men’s Junior 8+ was juniors Nolan Hackerd, Tom Tomsheck, Mason Fors, Spencer Buquicchio, Jackson Monturo and Grayson Norris. Along with these juniors were sophomores Benny Kavara and Harry Hill. Junior Dillon Lee was the coxswain for this boat. Another third place finisher was the Women’s Lightweight 4+. This boat consisted of senior Allison Radke, juniors Lauren Gesik, Emily Briggs, Grace Clinger, and sophomore Lindsey Cool as the coxswain.
The final third-place finishing boat was the Women’s 2nd Varsity 8+ with juniors Katie Johnson, Grace Clinger, Nicole Hunnewell, and Lauren Gesik, along with sophomores Kendra Wolffis, Sarah North, Dana Kistler, and Grace Ohanesian. Junior Sarah Wordhouse was the coxswain for this boat. Finally, to round out the order, the Women’s Varsity 8+ took a fourth place spot. This boat contained seniors Allison Radke, Grace Cool, Abby Hier, Molly Neary, Payton Waclawski, and Lauren Hackerd. Competing with them was also juniors Jayla Williams, Emily Briggs and Krystal Koski as the coxswain.
With this regatta in the books, FHC continues to look strong as they head into their next regatta, the Midwest Scholastic Nationals. After another high placing race, the FHC crew team looks dominate heading into the end of the season.
